Doors to forgiveness in Islam?

i have heard tht muslims get paid for their sins and good deeds in their lifetime as well as after they die ..!!sorry i have no proof ..!! but listen up ..islam is really forgiving and obliging...ppl tend to misunderstand it because they r preached in wrong way...even if u pray with all ur heart for forgiveness ...then 4 sure it wont go void
