How did you tell your mom about your period? What conversation followed?

I got mine in the summer, right after going swimming in my friends' pool. I actually told my older sister about it first(she and I are very close), and she proceeded to tell my mom. I didn't have to do anything! My mom got me the pads (which I ditched a.s.a.p , and got tampons because I hated pads)! My older sis is still my best friend!
