Can you have more than one anti malware/spyware program on your comp?

I know you can only have one antivirus. I have kaspersky. But I have a program called malware bytes anti malware or something. But there is another program that comes with my advanced system care (it's freeware and i know it is safe) to check your computer for malware. Can I use it (the other program wouldn't be open)
